[Jikei Science Seminar] "Understanding immunosenescence and the challenge of thymus regeneration using iPS cells" will be held on Friday, October 17th.

On Friday, October 17th, a seminar titled "Understanding immunosenescence and the challenge of thymus regeneration using iPS cells" will be held in the seminar room of the Jikei Nakanoshima Center on the 15th floor of Nakanoshima Qross.

　The immune system that protects our bodies weakens with age, leading to a decrease in resistance to infections and cancer. This phenomenon, known as "immunosenescence," is related to the rapid shrinkage of the thymus, an organ that produces T cells, after puberty.

In this lecture, I will introduce research that has revealed how the number and function of T cells differ with age, focusing on the immune response after vaccination, and I will also talk about our challenge to regenerate the function of the thymus using iPS cells.
