"Seminar on the Future of Cultured Meat" held on Friday, October 17th

Activity report
2025.10.24

The Cultured Meat Future Creation Consortium, consisting of Professor Noriya Matsuzaki of the Osaka University Graduate School of Engineering and five participating companies (Shimadzu Corporation, Itoham Yonekyu Holdings Inc., TOPPAN Holdings Co., Ltd., SIGMAXYZ Inc., and ZACROS Inc.), is promoting concrete initiatives toward the "social implementation of edible cultured meat production technology using 3D bioprinting."

Under a collaborative framework that transcends corporate boundaries, the consortium is working to develop the application of 3D bioprinting technology and build a value chain that looks ahead to production and distribution. It is also working on mass culture technology and the establishment of a stable cell manufacturing process, both of which are essential for social implementation, with the aim of commercializing cultured meat in 2031.

To widely disseminate these efforts, the consortium exhibited at the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion (sponsored by Osaka Prefecture and Osaka City) at the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo. The consortium exhibited Mirai's automated cultured meat production system and cultured meat produced using 3D bioprinting, highlighting the potential of cultured meat as a form of "future food" that reduces environmental impact and contributes to resolving global protein shortages.

In conjunction with the consortium's general meeting, Nakanoshima Qross held a "Seminar on the Future of Cultured Meat."

At the beginning of the seminar, various government ministries and companies were introduced to the efforts being made regarding cellular foods, as well as the latest trends both domestically and internationally.

This was followed by a discussion among the speakers, who exchanged opinions from a variety of perspectives on "challenges and measures for the popularization of cellular foods."

A networking session was held at the end of the event, bringing together researchers and key industry players to exchange information and engage in lively discussions about future collaborations.
